CLINICAL DEPARTMENTS
DEPARTMENT OF INTERNAL MEDICINE
The Department of Internal Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and medical treatment of diseases and conditions of adults, 19 years old and above. With an individualized approach to adult medicine, our doctors administer analytical examination, both physical and laboratory science through outpatient, inpatient, and teleconsultation services. The Department is committed to give personalized, compassionate, systematic and holistic approach in treating both acute and chronic common illnesses and complex medical conditions.
DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS
The Department of Pediatrics caters to patients from birth to adolescence until 19 years old. Our pediatricians are fully qualified, compassionate, and ethical, working tirelessly to provide the best care they can for our patients. The Department’s scope includes newborn care, non-critical neonatal and pediatric cases at our inpatient wards, and critical patients at the Neonatal Care Unit and Pediatric Critical Care Unit. Likewise, we also provide outpatient face to face and teleconsultation services.
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SURGERY
The JRBGH Department of Surgery aims to deliver the best practice in health surgery care. The Department is composed of fully trained and professional staff who are able to cater to the surgical needs of clients whether as inpatient or outpatient, adult or child.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY UNIT
The Orthopedic Surgery Unit specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Our orthopedic surgeons have expertise in the following areas of orthopedics: fracture care and trauma; joint replacement; and musculoskeletal infections in both pediatric and adult patients.

DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE
The Department of Family Medicine is in charge of running the Outpatient Department. Our dedicated team of Family Medicine physicians have a broad array of competencies to diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated problems regardless of age, gender, illness, or organ system. Palliative care is offered to terminally ill patients and their families. Our emphasis is on health promotion and disease prevention, and our practice is patient-centered, evidence-based, family focused, and problem oriented.
DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY
The Anesthesiology Department is composed of trained specialists who aim to deliver a holistic, efficient and patient-centered perioperative management. Our vision is to serve the community with utmost respect and diligence, gearing towards a pain-free community.

DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL MEDICINE
The Department of Dental Medicine are responsible for the maintenance of oral health. Our dentists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, promoting oral health and disease prevention.
CLINICAL LABORATORY DEPARTMENT
J.R. Borja General Hospital provides comprehensive lab services for routine check ups and to assist our doctors diagnose medical conditions, plan or evaluate treatments, and monitor diseases. Our laboratory tests include general tests for primary health care such as CBC, clinical chemistry, serology, microbiology, mycology and parasitology. We also have disease-specific tests such as for hepatitis B screening, malaria, dengue, typhoid fever, and syphilis.
PHARMACY DEPARTMENT
Our pharmacy provides inpatient and outpatient medication dispensing and preparation of drugs. Our pharmacists make sure of the quality, safety and efficacy of all medications that are given to patients. They monitor drug use and give educational information to patients and watchers.
SPECIAL CARE UNITS
CRITICAL CARE UNIT
The Critical Care Unit (CCU) serves as a place for monitoring and care for both pediatric and adult patients with severe physiologic instability, requiring technical or artificial life support, who have potentially recoverable conditions that can benefit from more detailed monitoring and invasive treatment. Critically ill patients are treated by multidisciplinary teams with the goals of achieve greater survival rate and recovery, relieve pain, discomfort and anxiety, all while preserving the patient’s dignity.
NEONATAL CARE UNIT
The Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) offers round-the-clock care and support to premature and ill newborns, as well as comfort to parents and family members. We have healthcare providers who have special training and equipment to give these babies the best possible care.
NEWBORN SCREENING
We do newborn screening on all babies delivered at the hospital as well as admitted babies who have not been screened yet. Newborn screening has prevented the death and disability of infants with treatable diseases which do not manifest at birth.
TB PAVILION
The J.R. Borja General Hospital TB Pavilion is a separate facility catering solely to inpatients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. Our staff facilitate various diagnostic tests needed to detect TB disease in outpatients and the close contacts of inpatients. Working closely and collaboratively with the Department of Health, our staff are committed to the prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis in the community.
ACUTE PSYCHIATRIC UNIT
The Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) is a separate facility that houses and cares for mentally-challenged, differently abled and elderly individuals who need emergency intervention or care. These patients are admitted for 24 hours up to two weeks.
TEMPORARY TREATMENT AND MONITORING FACILITY PLUS
The Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility Plus was a collaborative effort by the City Health Office and JRBGH to respond to COVID-19. It is composed of doctors, nurses, and support staff who cater to mild COVID-19 patients who require monitoring by trained healthcare professionals but may not need admission to a hospital.
SPECIAL SERVICES
EYECARE AND SURGICARE PROGRAM
The Eyecare and Surgicare Program is an innovative collaborative program among the hospital, the City Health Office and coordinators outside the city. It has dedicated staff who cater to indigent patients brought in to the hospital who need cataract operations and secondary minor and major surgical operations. Minor surgeries performed include goiter, hernia, and cysts while major surgeries include cholecystectomy, mastetoctomy, cleft lip and palate.
BLOOD STATION
The J.R. Borja General Hospital Blood Station partners with the Philippine Red Cross to collect, store and release blood products to patients who need them the most. So far we have been able to sustain our ability to give blood even during crisis situations, thanks to our pool of voluntary blood donors.
WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CLINIC
The WHRC is composed of an OB-Gyne specialist and fully trained nurses and midwives who can provide a complete range of Family Planning services, including prenatal and postnatal counselling.
TELEMEDICINE SERVICES
The JRBGH Telemedicine Unit or the e-Konsulta is the free online consultation service of JR Borja General Hospital. This was born out of the need to bridge the gap between patients and doctors during this time of COVID-19 Pandemic. The e-Konsulta caters to online consultations for the various subspecialties present in JRBGH, which includes adult medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, dermatology, dental services, neurology, and family planning. E-konsulta is a safe and convenient way to reach your specialists for your health needs.
MALASAKIT CENTER
The Malasakit Center is part of the government’s effort to provide people-centered service and protect Filipinos against the financial risks of healthcare. It functions as a One-Stop Shop where indigent patients can efficiently access financial medical assistance from agencies such as PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
