JRBGH E-KONSULTA, BRIDGING THE GAP

During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, patients have been hesitant to visit their hospitals and clinics for fear of contracting the virus. This made a huge impact especially among the vulnerable population who are unable to visit their doctors. We created the JRBGH E-Konsulta out of this need to bridge the gap between patients and doctors with the aide of modern technology.

The JRBGH e-Konsulta is the telemedicine service of JR Borja General Hospital. We offer online consultations for the following specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, surgery, neurology, dental services and family planning. We provide a convenient and safe avenue for patients to consult with specialists as they can do so in the comforts of their own home. E-konsulta patients are also provided with the benefit of reduced waiting time as online consultations are scheduled. We also render this service for free so anyone can take advantage of the e-konsulta.

Since the launch of this service in May 29, 2020, we have catered to almost 10,000 transactions. Our patient demographics include those as young as weeks old to the senior citizens who have limitations in visiting the OPD clinics. Mainly, our clients are Kagayanons. But since JRBGH e-Konsulta knows no boundaries, we have patients coming from the whole Philippines, and even catered to a patient as far as Sydney, Australia.

Telemedicine is still a relatively new field and is met with multiple challenges day in and day out. Sometimes it becomes a handful with only three staff running the department. But we, the JRBGH e-Konsulta Team, always keep in mind the reason why we do this, and that reason is we are committed to reach as much patients as we can and be of service to those who are in need.
