On the 26th day of September 2022 one o’clock in the afternoon, the Children's Respiratory Clinic under the Department of Pediatrics of J.R. Borja General Hospital was officially inaugurated and opened to cater to patients with pulmonary disorders. It was attended by personalities in the administration, pediatric consultants and consultants from other departments.
This Clinic is meant to address the financial, emotional and even psychological burden that parents have to go through after their children are discharged from intensive care but still need follow ups for lung problems. As well, it will cater to referrals from other departments in the hospital that pertains to the following disorders: Neonatal Respiratory Diseases, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Congenital Pulmonary disorders, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, Upper respiratory tract obstructive infections, Pleural disorders, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Asthma, among others.
The clinic will be in operation every 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 2PM-4PM. There are two subgroups for the clinic namely the Asthma Clinic during the 1st Tuesdays of the month and the Chest Clinic during the 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Patients who were diagnosed with asthma or suspected to have asthma must be schedule for appointment during the asthma clinic while patients diagnosed with pulmonary disorders other than asthma must be schedule appointment during Chest clinic. Patients can come in early afternoon to the OPD Triage area to be registered and assessed after which they can proceed to the nurse station of OPD, Ground floor at JRBGH and will be directed to the Clinic.
The preparation and physical arrangement of the clinic was made possible thru the efforts of Drs. Early Sanchez (Pediatric Pulmonologist), Geenen Macadaeg (Pediatrics Department Chair), Ms Quennie Alfeche (OPD Head Nurse) and Mr. Darwin Dela Mance (Respiratory Clinic Nurse).
