National Women’s Month Medical Mission at Lumbia City Jail

Written by J.R. Borja General Hospital
Although deprivation of liberty is a legitimate state function over people in its jurisdiction, detainees’ dignity and integrity should still be respected. People Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) are vulnerable because of their restricted access to goods, services, and opportunities. As a result, they are prone to mental and physical health issues. To be able to overcome the challenges of reintegration in our society, these issues must be addressed.

JR Borja General Hospital is grateful to have been tapped by the Office of the City Mayor to join a medical, dental, and legal aide clinic last March 17, 2023, to 221 women deprived of liberty at the Lumbia City Jail for National Women’s Month. We share and reaffirm the government’s mission in ensuring the rights of our citizens especially people in vulnerable situations.
